The structure of the US Refugee Admissions Program as designed by then Senator Ted Kennedy (with his sidekick Joe Biden) and signed in to law by Jimmy Carter in March 1980 is crumbling (crumpling, whatever) and I want to know—
Where is Congress?
The original concept—non-profit groups being paid by the head to place refugees—is flawed. How do you run an organization and create an annual budget when the program is almost wholly dependent on that per head government payment?
Any legitimate advocate for refugees, should be asking Congress to reform the entire program.
But, of course the leadership (with fat salaries!) of the nine non-profit contractors*** isn’t urging Congress to reform the program and instead is working tirelessly, through the media, to show how mean Donald Trump is to have reduced the number of paying clients (aka refugees) with the assumption that in a few years they will get…

Nearly half of US Catholics believe it is not our responsibility to resettle refugees
Most of the media blames the change in attitude on Trump’s rhetoric, but I think there has been a sea change in media reporting. There is more and more news available to the general public about the kinds of things I mentioned in my previous post this morning—stories about refugees scamming our welfare programs for example that previously were not published, but are now spread widely by social media!
Erol Kekic of Church World Service: “We have seen an unfortunate rise in xenophobia globally.”
Ten years ago (nearly 11 now) when I first began writing this blog, stories in the media about refugees were in the genre I called ‘Refugees see first snow’ stories! All were meant to paint refugees in only the most glowing terms.
Now we do see more crime stories…

What else is new! The only thing new is the change in location from Minnesota to Maine and this time it is medicaid fraud and notdaycare fraud.
This news is from the Somali capital of Maine—Lewiston—and from earlier this month.
Tip of the iceberg?
From the Sun Journal(hat tip Frank):
PORTLAND — Two men from the Twin Cities charged with welfare fraud appeared in federal court Monday seeking release from jail.
No mugshots of Ahmed and Osman that I could find, but figured this older photo would suffice to illustrate the story!
At an afternoon hearing, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge John Rich III ordered Abdirashid Ahmed, 38, of Lewiston released on $5,000 bond after seizing his passport.
Rich said Ahmed would be equipped with an electronic monitoring device to ensure he does not leave Androscoggin County.
Ahmed was kept Monday night in federal custody at Cumberland…

Let’s have the debate, but cut the crap about the US Refugee Admissions Program being about saving the poor and destitute of the world, and stop denigrating any of us who don’t agree with the premise that refugee workers are vital to giant corporations.
Charity my foot! Moneybags Miliband pulls down a salary of over $600,000 annually so if the IRC wanted to keep its office open in Tyson Foods-run Garden City, Kansas they could! Another boo-hoo story on a Trump-shuttered resettlement office. https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/2018/0522/With-fewer-incoming-refugees-US-resettlement-centers-dwindle
If you have followed RRW for the last ten years you know that basic principles have emerged about the UN/US Refugee Admissions Program:
~A driving force behind more refugees coming to your towns and cities is the desire by BIG MEAT, the hospitality industry, and other manufacturing companies to hire trapped refugee laborers (trapped because they have no where else to go!).
~It is maddening that…
